Welcome to Plato, Poetry, Pragmatism! This blog is the collaborative enterprise of Professor Case's literature course Poetry and Pragmatism and Professor Cohen's philosophy course Plato on Love. Each week, students from one class will post to the blog, and students from the other class will respond to these posts. We envision the blog as a way to foster an ongoing conversation between the two sections about the issues we discuss in our joint sessions -- particularly those surrounding the relationship of philosophy to literature. When writing your posts, please bear in mind that your readership will include people from the other section, who most likely will not have read the texts you have. Please provide quotations from the texts to which you refer and sufficient context to enable a reader unfamiliar with these texts to understand your post.Needless to say, comments should be constructive and substantive. It's a good policy to quote directly from the original post in your response. Finally, to keep things simple, please include your full name in your post title.
